We've been playing outside so much lately and it feels so good. The kids are out riding their bikes and running around with neighborhood friends, playing tag, swinging on the rope swing, climbing trees, fishing along the pond and pretending they are contestants on survivor. I'm so excited to be gardening again and Stu has been out riding his mini bikes. With our work so intertwined with the internet and the social media world of today, how amazing it is to come home and pretend we live in the woods away from it all. Maybe this is a sign we are getting older or realizing more and more what we want out of life after all.
Working together and raising a family together, Stu and I are each others constant companions, quite literally. It can be hard and it can be amazing - both equally so. We are going on 8 years of Three Potato Four - bringing this small business through many highs and lows, constantly evolving and working hard to have more opportunities and growth. Owning a small business is not for the faint of heart for sure, but it does feel good to see how we've grown this brand. It's a good place.
Sharing my favorite quote about small business... "It's like a man riding a lion. People think, 'This guy's brave.' And he's thinking, 'How the hell did I get on a lion, and how do I keep from getting eaten?" - Toby Thomas via Inc. Mag.
Winter has been brutal. Full of so many snow days, shoveling out of our house, keeping the kids occupied, cutting kindling, gathering firewood and every moment in between working on Three Potato Four. The sun needs to show up already - because we need to go outside and play, without snow.
This summer we joined our local CSA for the first time. Thursday afternoon trips to the farm became a part of our summertime routine. We tried new recipes, ate more vegetables and picked many many bouquets of flowers. The kids learned to appreciate the work that goes into having a farm and growing your own food. And not a lot compares to picking and eating something straight from the farm down the road.
