two laps

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

Two friends. One race. Two laps. No prisoners.

Val and Pete have been swimming together every morning for the past seventeen years. Once a year they have a race, two laps up and back.

Hey, friends. Look for our shop update tomorrow, March 1st.

Spring is just around the corner and although this winter has been crazy and unusually mild it will feel good to see the sun more and watch everything turn green once again. We are working on the next event at our shop slated for April, stay tuned on our blog and our facebook page more details in the next few weeks.

Happy leap day to you!

branches, dropcloth + twine

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

It’s been a busy week prepping for our event this Fri/Sat in the shop. We are looking forward to sharing our space with the fantastic Philly vendors we’ve invited and hope Outpost will be a success.

Sharing a little glimpse into our week. Outpost must have seeped into our minds; Stu and I were inspired to build a teepee for Holly and Otis in our yard. Some large branches, twine and an old dropcloth worked out just fine.

outpost: art in the age

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Meet Walter Benjamin, the prolific 20th century German cultural theorist who was the inspiration to Art in The Age with his critical essay, “The Work of Art In The Age of Mechanical Reproduction” (1936). In keeping with Mr. Walter Benjamin’s theories, Art In The Age, a boutique/gallery space in Philadelphia, strives to empower artists who produce high quality work marked by fine craftsmanship and intellectual rigor. As well as operating their shop, they also are the creators of organic artisan spirits: ROOT, SNAP, RHUBY.

We are super excited that Art In the Age will be joining us at our opening party on Friday night. They will be providing samples of their organic spirits with amazing cocktails for all to enjoy. You can purchase ROOT, SNAP + RHUBY online on their website or find these spirits in select stores across PA. Not at your local store? Just ask them! We recommend it.

Watch the short about The Story of Root and its roots right here in Philadelphia history.

outpost: something’s hiding in here + forage

Meet Shauna Alterio and Stephen Loidolt the duo behind Something’s Hiding In Here and Forage Haberdashery. We have raved about them many times before. Last year we were lucky to have them set up a Forage pop-up with us at our March Barn Sale.

We are stoked they will be joining us once again for OUTPOST. Valentines day happens to be one of their favorite holidays and they’ve been busy making lots of awesome Something’s Hiding In Here goods for the occasion. In addition, they will also be bringing their limited collection of Forage bow ties and debuting their newly released neck ties.

She and her talented team offer bespoke floral designs for delivery all across the Philadelphia Metro area. Sullivan Owen brings a new aesthetic and perspective to floral and event design.
