meet the makers

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

On February 10 + 11 in our space on Shurs Lane we will be bringing together makers, shopkeepers, and artists whom we’ve met and admire. We wanted to promote the hardworking ever-growing community of small businesses and young entrepreneurs right here in Philadelphia. And so, we’ve gathered a select few of them for our OUTPOST shopping event.

Together, we think they bring an awesome selection of quality goods – from perfectly selected fresh flowers to handmade facinators and one-of-kind headpieces from handcrafted ties and bowties to a bag of finely roasted small batch coffee. You’ll find everything from heritage clothing to houseware keepsakes made from recovered olde things. Pick up a unique valentine gift, a coveted poster with amazing typography or simply a delicious cup of coffee, cupcake or artisanal grilled cheese sandwich from select Philly food vendors. And, for the Friday opening party sample a cocktail with spirits made right here in PA.

Plus for OUTPOST the shop will be filled with lots of Three Potato Four finds – a fresh stock of inventory we’ve been collecting and gathering just for this event.

Stay tuned here on our blog, where we will individually highlight each of our participants at OUTPOST.

Hope you can join us.

phila home show

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

This weekend – January 14 + 15 Three Potato Four will be participating in the Philadelphia Home Show. This year, as a special addition to the Home Show – Clover Market (a local vintage market in Ardmore, PA) has a dedicated room of vendors selling an assortment of vintage goods, affordable original art, one-of-a-kind handmade pieces, jewelry (antique and newly handmade) and repurposed creations of all kinds (clothing, furniture, and accessories).

We are honored to be within this curated select group and are busily prepping and selecting pieces to bring for this weekend’s excitement. If you are in the area stop by, look for signs for Clover Market. We will be there January 14 + 15 and would love to meet you. More details about tickets, info and directions to the Philadelphia Home Show here.

home in pa

Monday, January 9th, 2012

It will be almost two years this July that we have lived here in Pennsylvania. Stu and I have always been wanderers and seemed to love moving somewhere new every two or three years, we were addicted to the change and finding new places – never really finding “the place” where we wanted to settle. We moved here to PA very spontaneously, knowing we needed a new home for our business and taking a chance that we might find the right place for us.

And you know what? We have. We truly love it here. The people we have met are amazing- our neighbors, our friends and the community- hard-working, generous, friendly, gritty and real. The places we are still discovering here feel like secrets. There so much history in PA – hidden farms, mills, creeks and paths. It has been a great adventure.

Maybe this need to feel settled is because it’s not just Stu and I anymore and our children are not babies anymore but it’s really nice to put roots somewhere and feel at home.

faribault woolen mill co.

Friday, January 6th, 2012

In our day-to-day buying trips we visit many closed factories, mills and abandoned industrial businesses here in the US. It’s hard to see these beautiful places forgotten, abandoned and unused. It was refreshing to hear about the revitalization of Faribault Woolen Mill Co.

We are inspired by the people who believed in this brand to support and open it up once again and the wonderful impact they are making to this Minnesota community. And, are happily reminded that beautiful products can still be made here in the USA.

We are proud to be stockists of the Faribault brand.
