7 year anniversary

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Part of a large collection of old photos from the 1940′s newly acquired for the shop. The best part of these photos are the handwritten descriptions on the back.

(Let’s pretend we went to Paris today instead of the Whatchamacallit candy bars we ate for lunch. Happy Anniversary, Stu.)

“You and Me” by Penny & The Quarters

the house that manolo built

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Imagine a home in the Mexico painted the perfect shade of blue surrounded by a wonderous landscape of cacti and wildlife… One of our favorite artists - Geninne Zlatkis (whose lovely nature-inspired works we proudly have in our shop) lives in this inspiring home in Mexico. And what makes this home even more extraordinary is that her husband Manolo has built it for their family. Amazing, right?!

Geninne has been a customer of ours from the start and shared with us photos of her home. We love spotting the items she has bought from Three Potato Four and the creative ways she has used them – the mexican sugar cane mold to hold her paintbrushes, the gas station number 9 sign that hangs outside her studio door and the us postal bag that she uses to carry her orders to the post.

Visit her blog to see the projects and artwork she is working on and for more amazing snapshots of the house that Manolo built.

vintage maps from 3p4

Check out this month’s (Oct 2010) issue of Martha Stewart Living. The Austin, Texas home of designer Kimberly Renner is highlighted – a stunning light filled space decorated with rehabilitated vintage pieces from Thonet chairs to school desks and chairs from an office supply salvage sale. Renner created a brilliant vintage map wall in her son’s room – (and Living magazine credited Three Potato Four as their go to vintage map source)!  Yay!
